911 public safety telecommunication training programs


(1)(a)

Each district school board is encouraged to establish a public safety telecommunication training program as defined in s. 401.465 in at least one public high school in the district.The district school board may partner with an existing public safety telecommunication training program operated by a law enforcement agency or a Florida College System institution.

(2)(a)

A school district shall allow a student attending a public high school in the district to enroll in the public safety telecommunication training program at another public high school in the district unless:
The student’s school offers a public safety telecommunication training program;
The student does not meet the minimum enrollment qualifications for the public safety telecommunication training program; or
Scheduling of the student’s courses of study does not allow the student to attend the public safety telecommunication training program at another public high school in the district.
This subsection does not require a school district to provide transportation for a student to attend the public safety telecommunication training program at another public high school in the district.

(2)(a)

A school district shall allow a student attending a public high school in the district to enroll in the public safety telecommunication training program at another public high school in the district unless:The student’s school offers a public safety telecommunication training program;The student does not meet the minimum enrollment qualifications for the public safety telecommunication training program; orScheduling of the student’s courses of study does not allow the student to attend the public safety telecommunication training program at another public high school in the district.

(b)

This subsection does not require a school district to provide transportation for a student to attend the public safety telecommunication training program at another public high school in the district.
