Hiring and employing; infliction of pain or suffering; penalty


Any person who takes, receives, hires, employs, uses, exhibits, or, in any manner or under any pretense, causes or permits any child less than 18 years of age to suffer; who inflicts upon any such child unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering; who willfully causes or permits the life of any such child to be endangered or his or her health to be injured or such child to be placed in such situation that his or her life may be endangered or health injured; or who has in custody any such child for any of the purposes aforesaid is guilty of a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
